Environmental Info

GAR Products® is a company born in tradition and we have distinguished ourselves as a source for modern day needs. By integrating traditional manufacturing with unique, green initiatives we have set ourselves apart from our competitors. We design, develop and manufacture products with constant awareness of environmental concerns. GAR Products® is respectful of the consumer’s desire to contribute to the protection of the environment and it is our responsibility to offer products that meet this need. Without the understanding of today’s ecological issues it would be impossible for a company to forecast the market’s demands.

Sustainable

development marries two important themes: that environmental protection does not preclude economic development and that economic development must be ecologically viable now and in the future. Common use of the term “sustainability” began with the 1987 publication of the World Commission on Environment and Development report, Our Common Future. Also known as the Brundtland Report, this document defined sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

This concept of sustainability encompasses ideas, aspirations and values that continue to inspire public and private organizations to become better stewards of the environment and that promote positive economic growth and social objectives.

Company Information

GAR Products® is a 65 year old family owned and operated corporation that specializes in quality seating, table tops and table bases for all levels of hospitality and design industries. As the company enters its third generation of family ownership, our commitment to protecting the Environment continues by providing an expansive product line along with responsible manufacturing processes.

As of November 2006, GAR Products® began purchasing 100% of its power through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from 3 Phases Energy. As a result, GAR Products® is preventing more than 1.0 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

GAR Products® will be replacing all of our factory lighting with energy efficient fluorescents equipped with sensors. The factory will be sending foam scraps back to the manufacturer to be recycled and all scrap metals, cardboard and mixed paper are being recycled. Where paper is needed, 100% recycled paper is being used.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has developed a compliance assistance program known as Green Start to proactively help businesses and public employers comply with their environmental obligations. The program assists facility owners and operators in interpreting environmental regulations and evaluating compliance in the areas of air , water pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, pesticide control, Right-to-Know (RTK), Toxic Catastrophe Prevention Act (TCPA), and spill containment plans under Discharge Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (DPCC).

GAR Products® uses suppliers who support the same vision

Since GAR Products® obligation is responsible manufacturing, our need for suppliers with the same vision is extremely important. We have built long-term relationships with European factories that contribute to the regeneration of Beechwood forests. GAR Products® is also forming alliances with companies whose statement on the environment is similar to our own. Our in house resource library has been dedicated to vendors who incorporate sustainable fabrics from recycled material, PVC free vinyl, environmentally friendly Crypton ®, and other Green options. We have recently launched a sampling program with Wilsonart, a Greenguarded company, in order to provide matching laminates with our standard Ultra Violet finishes to the A&D community , Hotel Groups, and Restaurant dealers.

In the upcoming year we will strengthen our green initiatives by providing our customer with an increased number of options in relation to foam, fabric, and surfacing material choices.
